Further steps taken! The inaugural meeting of the Humanoid Robot Standardization Working Group was held in Beijing.

Release Date:2023 / 11 / 21
Zhao Yong, General Manager of China Robot Network and a member of the National Robot Standardization Technical Committee, along with several leaders and more than 80 experts from member units of the Humanoid Robot Standardization Working Group, universities, enterprises, and research institutions, participated in this conference. The conference focused on the needs of industrial development, kept up with technological development trends, and explored a new future for the standardization of humanoid robots and the high-quality development of key technologies.

Pooling wisdom and efforts for development. The establishment of the Humanoid Robot Standardization Working Group at this conference will help strengthen the research and development of standards in the field of humanoid robots, promote the development of the humanoid robot industry chain, and leverage standards to achieve rapid industrialization and large-scale application of my country's independent and advantageous technologies.

The conference also invited industry experts such as Xiang Diyun, Vice General Manager of Beijing Xiaomi Robotics Technology Co., Ltd.; Qiao Bo, Professor-level Senior Engineer/Research Team Leader of Zhejiang Laboratory; Ji Chao, Robotics Product Director of iFlytek Co., Ltd.; Tao Yong, Researcher/Doctoral Supervisor of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Zheng Jin, Senior Engineer of Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory; Sun Guoliang, Deputy Director of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology; and Huang Xiandao, Assistant Director of the Robotics Center of the 21st Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, to give insightful presentations on standardization work and key technologies in areas such as humanoid robot assembly, intelligence, control execution, perception, and testing. They jointly discussed the current status and future of humanoid robot standardization and technology.

Lu Yuepin, an official from the Intelligent Manufacturing Division of the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, put forward three requirements for the standardization of humanoid robots: First, thoroughly implement the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Robot Industry," conduct preliminary research on humanoid robot standards, and accelerate the establishment of mature standards; second, strengthen the service and support role of standards for the industry, enhance communication with leading enterprises, promote standard transformation, participate in collaborative innovation across the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, and promote the practical application of standards; third, accelerate the internationalization of Chinese standards and actively participate in the formulation of international standards.

Tan Xiangning, Deputy Chief Engineer of the China Machinery Industry Federation, pointed out that my country's standardization work in the machinery industry has achieved remarkable results. As a future industry, humanoid robots require standardization work to achieve high-level new quality productivity. He particularly emphasized the need to improve the overall layout of national, industry, and group standards related to humanoid robots.

Gao Shaoxiong, a fourth-level researcher at the Intelligent Equipment Division of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, pointed out that the establishment of the working group marks a new journey in my country's humanoid robot standardization work. Beijing has included the humanoid robot industry as a key industry in its strategic positioning and resource endowment for capital development, and is striving to create a "Beijing model" for humanoid robot industry development driven by both product innovation and scenario demonstration, and linked by ecological optimization and industrial synergy. Beijing is committed to building a global source of humanoid robot technology innovation, a high ground for application demonstration, and a high-end industrial cluster.

Li Jincun, Secretary-General of the National Robotics Standardization Technical Committee and General Manager of Beijing Institute of Mechanical Industry Automation Co., Ltd., read out the approval for the establishment of the National Robotics Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC591) Humanoid Robot Standardization Working Group (SAC/TC591/WG02).

The conference reviewed and approved the charter of the Humanoid Robot Standardization Working Group and the humanoid robot standard system, and examined two draft standards submitted by the member units of the Humanoid Robot Standardization Working Group.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that humanoid robots, integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, high-end manufacturing, and new materials, are expected to become disruptive products following computers, smartphones, and new energy vehicles, profoundly transforming human production and lifestyles and reshaping the global industrial development landscape. Currently, humanoid robot technology is rapidly evolving, becoming a new high ground for technological competition and a new track for future industries, with great development potential and broad application prospects. Robots define the future, and this formidable force of humanoid robots will bring boundless imagination to the future.
